“Vigyan Aviksha”: What and why it is?

Vigyan Aviksha is a unique thought that was designed to promote science consciousness, inquisitiveness and make scientific temperament among the students community. It is not a mere competitive or other kind of examination as usual but it is an effort to develop a path for students to adopt culture of science. 

Its emergence and development: Vigyan Aviksha is being conducted throughout the district of South 24 Parganas since 1997. It has been continuously developing towards more qualitative expanse from last 16 years by the endless endeavor of teachers, students, guardians and specially science activists of this district. Its popularity in this district is beyond any question.On and average 15000 to 20000 students have been participating in this examination.This year (2012) more than 23000 students have enrolled their name for this examination.

Its present context: Questions will mainly be framed on the full syllabus of respective class. Question paper will consist of a) General Knowledge b) answer from a paragraph c) short description d) multiple choices. Break up of marks in question paper is furnished below.

Awards in Vigyan Aviksha:

1. First rank holder in each class of the district shall get @Rs.100/- p.m for one year as stipend.
2. First, second and third rank holder and students, who will get 80% marks, shall get special prize.
3. Mark sheet and certificate shall be given to all examinees.
4. Vigyan Kendra and the school which will enroll highest number of students in this district shall be awarded.

Salient points of Vigyan Aviksha, 2012

1. Students of Class-IV to XI can sit for this examination.
2. An examination centre that will consist of 200 students, will be allowed to run.
3. Vigyan Aviksha, 2012 will be held on 7^th  October,2012; 12-2p.m
4. Last date of enrollment on 28^th July, 2012
5. Admit card will be distributed by 28^th September, 2012
6. Result will be published within 75days from the date of exam.

Its approach:

     Its a bottom up approach that we are striving  to achieve in the whole process of Vigyan
